Skinny jeans took the fashion world by storm a few years back… they say the style is slowly fading… but when I look around, that’s all anyone seems to be wearing these days… irregardless of their weight and proportions.
I know we’ve gotten so used to seeing everyone wearing them that we stopped noticing, but skinny jeans don’t look good on everyone! actually… they only really look good on a very specific type of body:
generally speaking, for skinny jeans to look good: you can’t have short legs, need to be significantly skinny, have straight legs, not be very curvy, not have a big butt, or thighs.
avoid wearing skinny jeans if : you have short legs, big butt/thighs, skinny but crooked legs, because the tightness of the jeans around the lower half of your legs puts a lot of emphasis on the size difference between the lower half of your legs and your thigh (and most people’s thighs are bigger…). It’s better to try bootcut, or slightly fair jeans that come over your feet so they can balance out the shape of your legs. And when worn with heals, can leave the illusion of longer more slender legs.
If you insist on wearing this style, or have a proportionate body but aren’t a supermodel, there are a few tips on how to make this trend work better:
Wear with longer top that goes over the top of the jeans down to about the middle of your butt.
or with a top that covers butt (this creates the illusion that your legs are longer than they are since you can’t see where they end).
Wear with flats if length of skinny jeans is just to ankle.
or with straight, knee high boots that do NOT widen at the top.
Make sure the jeans are not loose, and not too tight.
Buy a darker colored pair
remember: just cuz’ they’re in, doesn’t mean you have to wear em’
